7E Communications > 7E Products > Talking Head > TH-R TH-RRack mounted ISDN codecThe TH-R is a 1U rack-mounted AC powered variant of the TH-1 with the addition of a balanced XLR audio output in lieu of the headphone outputs. The 7E "Talking Head" series video reporter units are rugged, portable and suitable for location work anywhere in the world where there is an ISDN line or a suitable Inmarsat terminal. The TH-R codec is the complementary unit designed specifically for unattended use back in the studio. Simplicity and flexibility of operation in the control room have been the keyword in the product's development, resulting in a minimum of complex controls. The unit can auto-answer incoming calls and then display call information for 10 seconds after which nothing other than the incoming signal will be output. There is no risk of error messages or CLIs being displayed on-air. Excellent picture quality at 64/128kbps is assured by the use of the latest H.263 compression algorithms, or if desired high quality (7.5kHz) audio and low speed pictures can be transmitted instead. The TH-R is a fully standards compliant video conferencing terminal and can be used to receive material from other H.320 compliant devices. There is no special TH-R user guide as the unit is intended for installation by a qualified broadcast engineer, all software functions are identical to the TH-1, a User Guide for which is supplied and can be downloaded below.
