TH-4

Live video & audio contribution on demand

Talking Head TH-4Envisaged originally as a replacement for the "stock shot" & telephone call in news bulletins, hence "Talking Head", the 7E TH-1 Video Reporter quickly found applications from the live coverage of the US "spy" plane incident in China, to reverse video during a lottery show. The introduction of the TH-2 with integral S0DA duo to support two Inmarsat GAN terminals for 128kbps connectivity, further enhanced the systems capability. The 2001 Afghan conflict secured the "Talking Head" series numerous awards and a place in media history. 7E did not stop working on the family, introducing the IP enabled TH-3 in 2003. Today the TH-4 adds the latest H.264 compression and IP connectivity up to 768kbps (or 2Mbps) in a unit that still weighs under 5kgs and the TH-4 is upgradeable from your original TH-1 or TH-2.

The 7E Talking Head series video reporter units are rugged, portable and suitable for location work anywhere in the world where there is an ISDN line, Internet connection or a suitable Inmarsat terminal(s). Housed in a waterproof case and using tried and tested technology, the unit can be used in the harshest of environments with complete confidence.

Simplicity and flexibility of operation for the lone reporter has been the keyword in the product’s development, resulting in a minimum of complex controls. The unit can be powered from the local mains source (90-264VAC), or a nominal 12V DC source, such as a broadcast camera battery.

Excellent picture quality from as low as 56kbps is assured by the use of the latest H.264 compression algorithms or, if desired, high quality (7.5kHz) audio and low speed pictures can be transmitted instead.

A simple mixing facility on the unit enables low-Z microphones and balanced or unbalanced line sources to be connected simultaneously. A custom designed I/O processor optimises the audio/video for transmission, whilst providing both professional (XLR/BNC) and domestic (phono) connections. Headphone jack sockets provide both direct and cue (return) signals for monitoring purposes.

Storage for cables, microphone, earpieces is provided within the case so that the unit is totally selfcontained.
